Things have changed dramatically over the past ten years in regards to technology and the pace is getting quicker by the day. All of this technology typically makes life easier and information more accessible. With life easier and information flowing rapidly comes bad habits that many would have never dreamed possible. Below are six of those bad habits that I have developed because of technology.
Texting, Twittering, Facebooking and Emailing While Driving.
I know, that sounds terrible. It’s almost as taboo as drinking and driving, but once you get the hang of it then it almost becomes second nature. I obviously don’t do it while in heavy, fast paced traffic, but I do it…and it’s bad.My Netbook and BlackBerry Have Replaced My Magazine and Newspaper In The Shitter.
This may fall under the TMI rule, but I really find it unbearable to take a dump now without some form of the Interweb with me. There is really no unproductive time anymore, although this does lead to staying on the pot too long. Yeah, I’ll get up when my legs fall asleep.Print Photos Are a Thing of the Past
Stacks and stacks of photo albums have now been replaced with memory cards and hard drives full of digital pictures. Yeah, I could still take those cards to Walmart and have them printed out, but for some reason I never do. I even got a digital photo frame as a Christmas gift and have yet to set it up. When you are sharing pictures with a family member or friends how often is it done around a computer? Yeah, we just don’t print photos anymore.Face-to-Face Communication Is A Thing Of The Past
That may not be completely true, but how many times have you saw a friend or family member face-to-face as compared to how many times you have communicated with them on Facebook or on a webcam? I’m guessing in most cases the later is a higher number. Technology has given us too many excuses and ways to avoid seeing people; good or bad.Twittering and Facebooking The Big Event On TV
It’s not enough any more to just watch the Super Bowl or Grammys or anything else big on TV now we all feel the need to hop on Twitter or Facebook and tell the world how we feel about what’s going on. It even happens on normal everyday programming too it’s just even more prevalent during big events.Using GPS Instead of learning Your Geography
GPS is a great thing, especially for mothers and geographically challenged people, but have we given up the quest of actually learning our surroundings? I used to make sure my car stayed stocked with a road map of every place I have been. With GPS devices and GPS enabled phones, the need to know your surroundings and know how to get somewhere is history.source : knucklesunited.com
