The display technologies coming out of SID have been the future to say the least. After having seen the innovative USB-powered display by Samsung, Toshiba is the next to impress with a 8.4 inches and 800 x 600 LCD panel which zooms in and out of an image by bending it. Displayed at the SID 2010, the display from Toshiba was shown zooming in and out of an aerial photograph of Google Earth by bending the LCD. The display, made of a thin edge-lighting LED backlight unit that can be bent to a curvature radius of 50mm, is stuffed in with software which zooms in and out images in congruency with resistance value change in the bend sensor. The production of such a display may have a long time still, but it certainly has applicable potential. Till we hear more on the panel, you can hit the jump and enjoy the video.
