The Android OS might not be up to satisfactory level for some users. In order to achieve a better smartphone OS, there is a need to borrow a number of elements or user interfaces from various mobile operating systems including the iPhone and Samsung TouchWIZ.
China Unicom, the second largest carrier in China, has done that by working on a new user interface called the uPhone, which will sit on top of the Google Android OS and have a number of elements borrowed from the iPhone OS and the Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
The uPhone platform from Unicom will also have their own applications which will be made available through their own Unistore app store, that is also said compatible with the Android market. They’ll face competition from the largest carrier, China Mobile which already has a number of customized Android phones, which are generally known as oPhone such as the Lenovo oPhone.
