Back when I was a kid, I had a knock-off Japanese watch shaped just like Soundwave from the Transformers. I loved that watch, mostly because you could snap off the microcassette and transform it into a bloodthirsty robot jaguar. I can’t even begin to tell you how much time that little watch whittled away in my grade school math classes and how, even to this day, I wished I had a similar watch strapped around my wrist.
Alas, no one is making transforming boom box watches for adults there days… but except for the ability to launch robot cassette tapes from my wrist, the Mixtape Watch by EOS is pretty close aesthetically.
As you can see, the Mixtape Watch replaces a standard watch face with an anodized black stainless steel micro-cassette. To read the time, you read the tape spools: one spool indicates hours, the other minutes, with the thickness of each delineating the hours and the minutes.
Absolutely gorgeous, and if you don’t like black, you can also pick one up in more Transformers appropriate colors of gold and blue. Each watch will cost you a pretty penny, though: they’re going for $135 each, or at least $130 dollars more than my cheap knock-off Soundwave watch cost back in the day.
